How you train

Powerlifting at Atlas

Powerlifting at Atlas Fitness & Health Center in Torrington, CT

If your training revolves around the squat, bench, and deadlift, you need equipment built for heavy weight.

You get power racks, deadlift platforms and bumper plates, plus a Sorinex belt squat and a Rogue reverse hyper for accessory work.

Best of all, it's 24/7, so you hit your lifts on your time, not during peak-hour rack lines.

What you'll use

Power racks · deadlift platforms · bumper plates · reverse hyper · belt squat

Accessory work that moves your total

The big three get stronger when the muscles behind them do. The reverse hyper trains your hamstrings, glutes and lower back without loading your spine. The belt squat adds leg work with no bar on your back. Plate-loaded Hammer Strength machines cover rows and leg work, and the fat bars build the grip that heavy pulls need.

A simple week to start

  • Day 1: squat, then belt squat and reverse hyper.
  • Day 2: bench press, then rows on the DY row and some pressing.
  • Day 3: deadlift, then reverse hyper and grip work on the fat bars.

Three days a week is plenty for most lifters. Add weight slowly and write down every session, so you always know what to beat next time.

Training heavy on your own

With 24/7 access you'll sometimes have the floor to yourself. Set the safeties in the rack before you squat or bench, and know how to bail a lift. If you want a second set of eyes on your form, personal training starts with a free 30-minute consult.
