24/7 Gym near Canton & Collinsville, CT
About twenty minutes west of Canton and Collinsville, straight out Route 202.
Collinsville grew up around the Collins Company axe factory on the Farmington River. If your weekends go to paddling the river or riding the Farmington River Trail, a few strength sessions a week help your back, hips and grip keep up.
Atlas is a strength gym first: plate-loaded Hammer Strength, a Sorinex elevated belt squat, a Rogue reverse hyper and a turf room in the back for sleds and carries. Members come and go 24/7 on a key tag, so a session can fit before a ride or after work.
Canton sits over the line in Hartford County, but the drive is simple. A day pass is the easy way to find out whether the trip works for you.
Getting here
From Canton, take Route 44 and Route 202 west together on the Albany Turnpike. Where they split, stay on Route 202, which carries you into Torrington; turn onto Route 4 west and it becomes Migeon Ave. From Collinsville, go north on Route 179 until it meets Route 202, then head west the same way. Atlas is at 634 Migeon Ave, with free parking front and back.
Strength for the river and the trail
Paddling and long rides ask a lot of your back and hips. Sled pushes and farmer's carries on the turf build strength you can use outside, and the reverse hyper works your glutes, hamstrings and the muscles along your spine. Stiff after a long weekend? Book a 30-minute assisted stretching session with Colin or Isabella.
Where to start
- Sled pushes down the turf and back, a few rounds with full rest between them.
- Farmer's carries with the strongman handles, heavy enough that grip is the limit.
- The belt squat, where the load hangs from a belt at your hips instead of sitting on your shoulders.
- Three easy sets on the Rogue reverse hyper to finish.
